OVERVIEW

While the rest of the health care system has been moving rapidly toward paying for value, payments for drugs largely continue to be stuck in a 20th century construct that focuses on price, regardless of the health outcomes of each patient. Increasingly pharmaceutical and medical device companies are operating in a rapidly changing marketplace involving PBMs, formularies, health insurance exchanges, value-based purchasing arrangements and new and innovative forms of risk-sharing and incentive arrange-ments. The Summit will focus on the context and structuring of such arrangements, including clinical, actu-arial, contractual and legal and regulatory issues. Pharmaceutical and medical device business leaders need to become familiar with trends in value-based contracting. Pharmaceutical and medical device compliance professionals and in-house counsel need to become acquainted with such marketplace developments and to integrate new ethics and compliance standards and best practices in response to these developments into company compliance programs.
